• Why does debris collect on glass?

Ever wonder why debris collects on glass?  Seems like it doesn’t take very long to get windows dirty.  The reason for this is because glass is made of ridges and troughs which collect the debris and “trap” it in the glass.  Think of it as thousands of rolling hills going up and down and up and down.  The “down” spots is what traps the debris and makes it stick to the glass. Over time this trapped debris can cause hard water, which may cause permanent damage to your windows.  Another tip for cleaning your windows is to look at the bottom portion of your windows.  If you haven’t cleaned your windows in a while, or if you get a decent amount of runoff from your roof or siding, you will see what looks like run marks down your window. This is the beginning stages of hard water build up.  Catch it and clean it before it permanently marks your windows.  The next few posts I will be talking about hard water a little bit more in depth.  Stay tuned……
